Websites and Technology

Those who know me, know I struggle with websites and technology. Well, pretty much anything that plugs in. Honestly, sometimes I miss my past of kerosene lanterns and paper and pen. Which is why I’ve just spent the past two hours struggling with updating this website. I wish it had come with an instruction booklet for website idiots.

It dawned on me that when I publish a new book, that information has to be added throughout this website. Links have to be changed and paragraphs rephrased. And if that wasn’t challenging enough, in my infinite wisdom I redid all my book covers. While I’m thrilled with the new covers, that meant I also needed to update the ‘Books’ page on this website.

After a lot of editing, deleting, and I confess, cussing, I think I’m up to date. I’m patting myself on the back as I managed to do it without harassing my website designer or calling my son (I think he’s now screening calls). Well, at least I think I managed to successfully update everything. We’ll see. There’s nothing worse than offering editing services only to find a typo on your website. I did see some weird spacing in places, but I’m going to blame the spirit that haunts websites and moves things around in the night once you close the computer.

In the meantime, it’s almost spring which means it’s snowing heavily and the fire in the wood stove is blazing. I can now breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy the fire guilt – free because I’ve finally edited the website. Until I open the computer again and find the elusive typo.

Fifteen minutes east of the house.
